'Reddy' for class (plus: need some advice!)

Some items are really tough to style in a lot of different ways, like my grey sweater tunic from Forever 21. I don't know what to pair it with besides leggings or jeans, since it is too damn short for tights. So I usually end up trying to jazz it up with accessories and today I decided that it was my skull scarf's turn.

Outfit breakdown
sweater tunic - forever 21, delhi
leggings - forever 21, delhi
scarf - birkin, lyon
earrings - mom's

I got so many compliments on this outfit today! That was totally surprising and awesome, since I literally put it together in 5 minutes and didn't even think it looked that great. Skull scarf, I love you!

P.S. You can't see them but I was wearing black boots today and they really made this outfit edgy. From tomorrow, I'm going to add in a shot of my shoes.

P.P.S. My birthday is in two weeks and I can't for the life of me decide what I want to get - this leather skirt or the perfect pair of dark brown oxfords that have been on my wishlist forever! So I'm adding a poll to my sidebar - it would really help me out if you guys vote and help me decide :)

I think the skull scarf is way cute! It dresses up your outfit wonderfully. Also kudos for keeping things appropriate with the leggings. I see too many people wearing tights with "tunics".

Megan Mae: I'm guilty of trying it once with this tunic, but I felt so naked all day that I swore never to do it again :-P

I've done the 'leggings as pants' a few times, but only to bars & clubs. It's not work wear. The skull scarf looks great belted like this!

Loren: Thanks! Yeah, I see why it wouldn't work for office situations :-P it is really really comfy for a day of classes though! :-)

Ooh, skull scarf, such a great addition. It's so fun, worn this way so one can see the pattern!

I voted for the Oxfords, mostly because it's vicarious shopping for me: I've been wanting a pair too!

Your outfit is lovely, I really like your scarf and how you wore it with a tunic :)

Love the scarf - great idea to belt it! I loathe leggings, so I would do the tunic with a long skirt and a big belt, just for fun.

(I voted for the leather skirt - they never go out of style!).

Rachel W: Thanks, I did like the showcasing of all the skulls :D

Joyce: Thank you :)

Sheila: Ooh that's a great idea! I'm going to be on the lookout for a maxi skirt, just so I can try this! :)

Love the scarf! It really adds a pop of color. Have you tried tucking your tunic into a skirt to make it shirt? I do that a lot with my tunics to get more wear out of them.

Black boots + Sculls = SUPER edgy! No wonder you got so many compliments :)

Ki said...

Heather: Wow that is a kickass idea! :D I haven't tried that yet, but I will asap. Since this tunic is so thin, I'm sure I will be able to tuck it in with no problem at all :D

threadsandbuttons: Aww thanks :D it was a little 'tough' looking and cool :D

Love how you styled this, the scarf almost looks like a panel/part of the sweater!

Vanessa: Thanks! I kinda wanted it to look like a vest :-D

I would have to vote for neither. In my opinion, If I am are going to spend 100 bucks on a single item, I would rather spend it on a classic piece that would stay with me for years like a great jacket , great black boots, black pencil skirt etc . Oxfords or leather skirt don't seem to be that classic piece of item to me.Sorry! Or maybe its my age(27), I do not tend to jump on the ever changing fashion trend bandwagon !

Jan: To each her own right? :-) I feel like a leather skirt is a pretty timeless piece so I'm happy to invest in it and I just found a cheaper pair of oxfords that I can use to try out the trend! I have always struggled to find closed shoes that aren't sneakers though, so oxfords are on my wishlist :-)
I agree about the trends thing though - my red pants, yellow pants etc. are all super cheap sales purchases :-D

Of course,in the end what you like is all what matters , so enjoy :)
Ooh But I never commented on your outfit. I love the scarf within the belt thing..I have never done that. must try!

Jan: Thanks :-) it is something I don't wear a lot but it is fun to try!

That scarf really makes the outfit pop. And it's so edgy! I love it :) I only wear leggings under skirts, and I'm going to keep it that way. I don't think, even with a long sweater, I'd have the balls to wear leggings only. Imma scared-y cat!

GenkiOriana: Nooooooo! You must try them with tunics!!! This is like wearing pajamas all day - so nice and comfy! :D It is probably not work appropriate, but great for weekends or any outings involving food, since they have a stretchy waistband! Just make sure your behind is covered :P
