To buy or not to buy?

I overslept and missed my creative writing class today, so I ended up making a trip to the mall. I didn't buy anything, but I found two items that I have had on my wishlist for a while now - the perfect leather oxfords and the perfect leather skirt, both of which I want to go back and buy!

The shoes are a rich cognac colour, feel really soft and supple to touch and fit me so perfectly that even I was shocked (given all my shoes issues). They are definitely expensive at €99, but to be honest, I tried oxfords at six different stores today all of which had something wrong with them, so I may just end up getting them. I didn't manage to get a picture of them though, since the store was really fancy and I didn't think whipping out my cellphone and clicking away would be okay with the salespeople. Trust me though, I would marry those shoes if I could.

The skirt I found at Promod for €69.99 - a chocolate brown colour that looked pretty great on me! I did manage to get a few crappy cellphone pictures of it.

And for those of you wanting a better look at the colour of the skirt, here is a really bizarre last minute picture that I took.

What do you guys think of the skirt? I really want to go back and get it but I'm not sure what I would wear it with. If you had this exact skirt - what would you pair it with? Help!

P.S. Yep, this was my outfit of the day - pink turtleneck, rust cardigan, aqua necklace plus a pair of jeans.

This outfit is ace! I love all of the fall colours you incorporated.

Wendy: Thanks! :) I think the skirt makes it very 'fall', otherwise I was wearing just the rust cardi and jeans!

I like it with the colour palette you have now! Boring but I quite like creams/tans with brown leather as well.

Robyn: I do too! :D who knew I would be wearing the perfect outfit even to try it on ;) yeah, cream would look so lovely with this skirt! :)

I say go for the shoes for sure! Especially if you have foot issues, finding comfortable shoes is not easy and, for me, totally worth paying that much money for.

Skippy: I agree! Once they were on my feet, I knew I was going to have to buy them! :D

Yeah, I think this combo looks great actually! I also dig blues or teals with brown. It'll help bring out the orange in the skirt. You should probably go back for it.
Kendi styled a similar skirt in the Fossil Lookbook she worked on, there might be some ideas there.

Loren: Thanks - both your suggestions are super helpful! :D And I think I will get it... hope it's still there in about a week, since I cannot afford it before then!

Yes, buy the skirt! It is fabulous! I would wear it with a thick chunky turtleneck sweater in cream, colored tights, and boots!

My tip for wearing a leather skirt - treat it like it's any normal fabric. I mean, how many things in your closet would a normal brown skirt go with? Lots!

Ki said...

Megan Mae: That is the best advice ever :-D especially since almost everything in my closet would go with brown! :-)

Love the skirt, I think it would look great with a nude blouse or even a flowy cardigan for the chilly days. Thanks for sharing and have a great thanksgiving.

I vote for the boots completely. A great pair of shoes is worth every little bit.

The shoes: if you love them, get them. :) The skirt: I love the colors you have with it. And brown is an easy color to wear over and over again, year after year. So I'd say go for it if you love it/it feels comfortable, etc :)

Genki Oriana: I am pretty sure I'll get the skirt, may wait a few weeks for the shoes! :-)
